Every child is born with virtually the same number of brain cells. It is how those brain cells are connected during the first few years of life that determines how successful a child will be.
Can a child make up for a lack of brain development in their early years? To some extent, but it takes a lot more effort, a lot more resources, a lot more time, and a lot more money. Too often the child never does make up enough of the necessary development and their chance for success in school and life is limited. “A child that starts behind stays behind.”
Clare-Gladwin RESD understands the importance of the first five years of a child’s life and how it affects future school preparedness and success. Our dedicated Early Childhood staff is committed to providing and partnering with high quality early childhood programs and services for the children and families in our school communities.
Clare-Gladwin RESD Early Childhood and Family Services Department works hand in hand with the Great Start Collaborative, a group of individuals in the community who work together toward this common vision: That every child in Clare-Gladwin is safe, healthy, happy, and ready to succeed in school and in life.
