Donation of Patrol Car to Clare-Gladwin CTE Program

The Clare-Gladwin Career & Technical Education (CTE) Criminal Justice program is proud to announce the successful integration of a donated police patrol car into their training curriculum. This generous donation, made last spring by Lieutenant Mike Bailey, Sheriff John Wilson and the County of Clare, has provided invaluable hands-on experience for CTE students throughout the past year.

Lt. Mike Bailey, who informed Criminal Justice Instructor Buddy Boylen of the intended donation, expressed strong support for the program, highlighting their appreciation for its positive impact on the students. The Clare County Sheriff's Department has been a dedicated supporter of CTE, consistently offering work-based placements within their road patrol, central dispatch and jail services.

The addition of the patrol car has significantly enhanced the training experience for students, allowing for more realistic simulation exercises. Students have gained a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in making traffic stops, using in-car radios to communicate with dispatch and executing other critical aspects of police work. The availability of a dedicated patrol car ensures that training can proceed without the constraints of coordinating schedules with busy law enforcement partners.

Criminal Justice Instructor Buddy Boylen emphasized the importance of practical learning tools for the Criminal Justice program.

"The generosity shown by the Clare County Sheriff's Department is quite humbling,” said Boylen.  “It really is a great tribute to our CTE organization for the community to invest in the next generation. The goal for CTE Criminal Justice students is to be familiar with what they will be facing or learning at the next level. The two years they spend here allows them access to many aspects of the criminal justice field."

This donation represents a significant investment in the students' and community's future. The Clare-Gladwin CTE Criminal Justice program extends its deepest gratitude to Lt. Mike Bailey, Sheriff John Wilson, and the County of Clare for their continued support and dedication to the development of the next generation of criminal justice professionals.
