Four educators from Beaverton, Clare, Coleman, and Gladwin districts are participating in Math Recovery Specialist training. These participants will engage in over 80 hours of coursework with a certified Math Recovery Specialist Leader and 100 hours of intensive one-on-one instruction with students to become certified as math specialists. Their dedication to this work will support the teaching and learning of mathematics in their districts. #CGRESD #ourstory

Harrison Middle School 6th graders spent some time with REMC Director Joe Trommater and Data and Assessment Coordinator Duncan Gervin turning pennies into jewelry. Last night, the Clare-Gladwin Great Start Collaborative Family Coalition hosted a special evening with former Detroit Lions player Deon Butler. Stephanie Blain, a parent and core member of the Family Coalition, initiated the event by reaching out to Butler in November, inviting him to speak with local families about the importance of education, literacy, and resiliency. With the support of local community partners and the Ideal Theatre, her efforts made this impactful event possible. A total of 161 attendees gathered to hear Butler's motivational message and meet him in person. Thank you to everyone who was a part of this awesome event. #CGRESD #ourstory

In occupational therapy sessions, OTs encourage students to improve their fine motor and coordination skills by engaging in tasks that incorporate their "likes." Many of our students enjoy Toy Story, and the cubes and reusable stickers are good tools to help improve their in-hand manipulation and eye-hand coordination skills! Additionally, if the student has an AAC device, it can be modeled to "put more" pieces onto the board :) #CGRESD #ourstory

Area School staff competed in a fun team building Christmas activity, the Santa Run. Each team hunted for their clue and completed missions. The first team to complete all their missions were declared the winner. Lots of laughs and fun was had by all.
