Clare-Gladwin CTE had a fantastic time at the Clare Area Chamber of Commerce Family Night Out held on Tuesday, October 1st, at Wood's Household Parking Lot! It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet new friends, including potential future CTE students. The kids loved exploring our Criminal Justice Patrol Car and getting a chance to run the siren. We also had many participants competing in cornhole, push-up contest, and the step game, all for a chance to win a Deer Blind built by our Construction Trades students Stay tuned, as we will be drawing for the Deer Blind and contacting the winner later this week A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We appreciate your support and enthusiasm for CTE! #CTEitsWorking #CGRESD #FamilyNightOut #OurStory

Our team at Clare-Gladwin RESD has been hard at work sorting and organizing essential needs-based items for students in our region! From hygiene products to school supplies, we ensure everything is ready to support students who need it most. Next, we'll distribute these items directly to students through our districts and school partners, ensuring they can access the resources they need to thrive. #CGRESD #ourstory

Chantelle McLean and the rest of our CGRESD occupational therapy team target many foundational skills with their students, two of which include pincer grasp and precision placement. These exercises help strengthen hand muscles, preparing students for writing and other fine motor tasks. The difficulty of these activities can be adjusted based on the student's age and current skill level. In addition to muscle development, these tasks enhance eye-hand coordination, contributing to a well-rounded skill set. Activities like placing dot stickers and inserting beads into Mr. Munchie are designed to be both fun and engaging for young students. #CGRESD #ourstory

On Monday, September 23, 2024, we helped celebrate the ribbon cutting for two new cabins built by the Clare-Gladwin CTE Construction students last year for Gladwin City Parks/Campground. Completed in the spring, the cabins were successfully transported to the campground. This project demonstrates the strong collaboration between Gladwin City, the Parks Commission, and our CTE program. Not only does this initiative showcase the skills of our CTE Construction class, but it also provides students with valuable, hands-on experience in real-world applications. #CTEitsWorking #CGRESD #GladwinCityParks

On September 13th, Clare-Gladwin RESD sponsored a valuable training session on Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP). Participants explored essential components of language and discovered a powerful communication tool for expressing wants, needs, ideas, and emotions. This session laid the groundwork for future LAMP training, and we’re excited to continue this journey of learning together! #CGRESD #OurStory #LAMP #LanguageAcquisition

Clare-Gladwin CTE and Mid Michigan College partners to provide the high school seniors in our area with an opportunity to gather information and begin exploring colleges, training programs, and job opportunities so they may begin planning for life after school. Senior Focus Day started in 2018, and approximately 40 businesses, colleges, training programs, and agencies participated. The seniors who participated reported that Senior Focus Day helped relieve some of their stress; they found answers to their questions and gathered new information on job opportunities and college/training programs available. This year, participation grew to over 70 businesses, colleges, training programs, and agencies, and the number of local schools attending increased to 14, bringing more than 700 students to the event. #CTEitsworking #CGRESD #seniorfocusday #OurStory

There were some exciting activities happening at the Area School this week! Students from Ms. Wisman’s class worked together to make salsa using vegetables grown and harvested from the school's garden. The students had a great time collaborating and creating a delicious snack. Additionally, we were honored to visit with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics participants on Thursday. It's always a meaningful experience, and our students thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the officers. Finally, it’s inspiring to see our staff engaging with students in ways that meet their individual needs and create meaningful connections.

At Clare-Gladwin RESD, our occupational therapy team focuses on developing students' visual-motor and eye-hand coordination skills. These skills, which involve the eyes and hands working together to complete tasks, are essential for success and independence in school. We incorporate fun and engaging activities into therapy, making it feel more like play than work while addressing these important skills! #CGRESD #Occupationaltherapy #OurStory
