Gladwin Intermediate Peer 2 Peer students practicing inclusion!
One of our students on the Autism Spectrum began drawing on the chalkboard. Soon, she drew a crowd of students who joined her. Her Peer 2 Peer buddies quietly and happily created art alongside her. This student doesn’t often express herself with words, but in this moment, no words were needed. The kids simply enjoyed sharing in one of her favorite activities—expressing herself through art. What a wonderful example of inclusion and acceptance! #CGRESD #Gladwinitermediate #ourstory

A Gladwin Intermediate neurodiverse Peer 2 Peer student reads a book created by a fellow neurodiverse Peer 2 Peer student. The book, complete with illustrations, is all about dragons! The young author has embraced her neurodiversity as a gift and is discovering that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to. We celebrated and enjoyed her creativity and hard work! #CGRESD #gladwinintermediate #ourstory

A big thank you to Precision Data Products and Aver for providing CGRESD with a new computer cart at the MACUL Conference. The new cart, now in Room C at the administration building, is about half the size of the old one and is wired for the new computers we’ll be receiving this summer. Andre and Dori from Precision Data have partnered with CGRESD and REMC for decades as a REMC Save Vendor (remcsave.org), helping save local districts and CGRESD thousands of dollars over the years. #REMC #CGRESD #ourstory

Beautiful work was created by one of Gladwin Intermediate’s 3rd-year, 5th-grade Peer 2 Peer students. Her message perfectly captures what we strive to teach in Peer 2 Peer. This piece will serve as the template for our April Autism Awareness activity. I’m proud to say her hard work is also a shining example of my “Why.” I can’t wait to see the halls of GIS decorated with several of these amazing creations! - Anna O'Dell, School Psychologist #CGRESD #GladwinIntermediate #peer2peer #ourstory

The annual Science Olympiad Region 3 Tournament was held at the Mid Michigan College Mt. Pleasant campus on March 22. Teams from across the region—which stretches across the center of the state from coast to coast—spent the day competing in a variety of events covering all areas of science.
Advancing to the State Finals are Frankenmuth, Fremont, and Gladwin in the Middle School Division B, and Bay City Western, Frankenmuth, Manistee, and Shelby in the High School Division C. In addition, eight students qualified as individuals by earning gold medals in their events.
CGRESD volunteers included Cassy Tisak, Connor Clure, Duncan Gervin, Joe Trommater, Matt Shefferly, and Nick Winter. Stacey Beebe spent weeks working behind the scenes to ensure the tournament ran smoothly. Martin Elzroth and Adam VanDyke from Mid Michigan College organized individual events and coordinated the many volunteers who helped make the day a success. #CGRESD #ourstory

March is Reading Month, and the Great Start Family Coalition held its annual reading night on Zoom. Each registered family received a book, a snack, and a list of activities. This year, we picked a book about fort building. Each family built a fort, and then we came together on Zoom to read the book and eat snacks in their fort. The children had a blast, and some even wanted to sleep in their forts. For more activities like this, visit www.ClareGladwinGreatStart.com and follow our event calendar. #CGRESD #ourstory
