February is Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month! CTE programs provide your students with hands-on training that can be applied to real-world, in-demand education, training, and career pathways. Thirty-eight students participated in the regional HOSA competition at Saginaw Valley State University on Friday, December 9. Out of 42 teams competing, seven teams from health occupations program at Clare-Gladwin CTE were in the top eight, and three teams placed in the top three. Congratulations to all the students!

This year's CGRESD Holiday Card was designed using drawings submitted by students participating in the CGRESD SPARKS and IGNITE programs. It was a difficult task with so many excellent entries, but after careful consideration, five pieces of art were chosen for this year's card.
CELEBRATE NATIONAL SPECIAL EDUCATION DAY
Special Education Day is celebrated on December 2 to commemorate the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act into law on this day in 1975 (IDEA). IDEA granted children with special needs access to free and quality public education.

Polls open for the general election in less than 24 hours! Together with local superintendents and area school board of education members, CGRESD hosted a candidate forum to hear from local state house and senate candidates regarding their educational priorities for our region. CGRESD Area School provides real experiences for the real world. Students worked to create fresh salsa with locally grown produce. CGRESD is the place for students to receive individual support for their educational needs.

CGRESD pools resources to provide top-notch specialized training for local teachers. Area K-8 STEM teachers recently engaged in training on the latest research and technology through a "STEM Teachers Network" training. CGRESD presenters, Kay Hauck and Duncan Gaven noted, "This REMC Region 5 activity connected local K-8 teachers with the opportunity to try out some of our hands-on STEM and Coding resources, while also collaborating with other teachers on projects, lessons, and classroom activities." #CGRESDtrainsteachers
