Brandi Warner, Early On Coordinator, and Sarah McCurdy, Parent Liaison and CAN Council Chair, are feeling thankful and joyful as they spend the day before Thanksgiving connecting with families in our community at the Gladwin County Baby Pantry. The baby pantry is a big job, and we are grateful that Clare Gladwin RESD recognizes the important role it plays in our community, supporting families with supplemental necessities to reduce stress and help build resilience.

Instructional coaches meet to learn and collaborate through the Instructional Coaches Network. Practicing coaching conversations with one another helps them fine-tune their skills. The network values strategic, research-supported development of educators’ practices, knowledge, and professional identities, recognizing that powerful learning for students begins with powerful learning for educators. #CGRESD #ourstory

The Area School MOCI class, made up of students ages 15 to 21, grew squash in their garden this year and learned about its many health benefits. They also learned how to cook it! When it came time to prepare the squash, everyone pitched in to cut, scrape out the seeds, and add a little brown sugar and butter. After baking, the best part arrived—the taste test. Some students tried a sample bite, also known as a “no thank you” bite, while others went back for seconds. The sample tasters were commended for their bravery in trying something new, and the rest of the class enjoyed every bite until it was gone. We’ve already decided that next year, we’ll plant even more squash!

The Area School MOCI class, comprised of students ages 15 to 21, did a great job of fall clean-up. Having a garden takes a lot of teamwork and commitment. Together, the students cleared all of the plants. They then removed all of the fabric barrier and laid it out to dry. Another team of students cleaned our shed. They organized it and swept it out. All of our supplies and tools are neatly put away and ready for next year's garden. We are dreaming of an expansion. We will keep you updated in the spring. #AreaSchool, #CGRESD, #MOCI, #OurStory

I’d like to give a big shout-out to the amazing staff at CGRESD! Since stepping into my role in May, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and always willing to lend a hand. I’m truly grateful to be part of a team that’s not only talented, but also genuinely fun to work with.

Thank you all for making me feel so welcome and for making the transition into a new job so much smoother (and a whole lot more enjoyable)! #CGRESD #THANKYOU #OUR STORY

The Area School MOCI class, comprised of 15-21-year-old students, discussed ingredients and how they taste differently when used alone and when mixed in a recipe. Our fresh salsa contains lime juice. We taste-tested lime by itself. Some students liked it, and some thought it was too sour. Then we tasted our salsa. No one could taste the lime's sour taste in the salsa. Sometimes things we do not like on their own are in a recipe. We should try new things. We may like them.

The Area School MOCI class, comprised of 15-21-year-old students, enjoyed flower arranging. The students harvested these lovely flowers from their own flower garden at Verna's House in the Magnas Complex. The students created beautiful arrangements and sold them for $5.00 each. Their micro business supports the community excursions the students go on monthly.

Two core parents from the PAL Family Coalition and the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council, along with Brandi Warner from Early On and Sarah McCurdy, Family Liaison, attended the 33rd Annual Parenting Awareness Conference in Traverse City.

We learned about many important topics and explored the meaningful difference between happiness and joy—and how to share that understanding with the parents and caregivers we support. #CGRESD #ourstory
